Barbed wire reported across ATV trails in Jefferson County, authorities warn riders to use caution

Authorities have received reports of barbed wire being strung across ATV trails both in the Pipestone area and in the Bernice area in Jefferson County.

[Thursday, 5/28/26] We have received reports of barbed wire being strung across ATV trails both in the Pipestone area and in the Bernice area in Jefferson County. The incidents are under investigation by jurisdictional authorities, however we are asking the public to use caution when using such trails. Please also report any suspicious activity by calling Jefferson County’s dispatch center at 406-225-4075.
