2026 Upper Missouri Paddlefish update V, May 27, 2026 by Biologist Cody Nagel

The Upper Missouri Paddlefish update from May 27, 2026, reports that flows are low at 6740 cfs. Paddlefish are being caught in fair numbers from the bridge to Fort Peck’s headwaters. Participation increased over the holiday weekend, leading to greater angling success. A video on ethical snagging techniques is included.

As we approach the fifth weekend of the 2026 paddlefish season on the upper Missouri, flows dropped a little from last week and remain unseasonably low.

Currently, flows at the Landusky stream gauge are 6740 cfs and paddlefish continue to be caught in fair numbers from the bridge and areas downstream to the headwaters of Fort Peck.

Snagging activity bumped up over the holiday weekend and angling success was reflected this increase in participation.
