Winter has been dragging its boots around Hebgen Lake, and the ice just isn’t where we want it or where it should be yet. As of December 14, 2025, Garrett Ostler is officially asking Santa Claus for a little North Pole assistance, as you will see in the video below, because we could really use some colder temps and a solid freeze. The ice that was there has not been consistent or safe enough to get super excited about. So, until Santa delivers and Mother Nature flips the switch, anglers should stay patient, stay cautious, and keep their ice gear on standby. We recommend not sacrificing your auger, though!
