Don Wilkins’ Weekly Fort Peck Fishing Report 12.19.25

If You Like Walking, You’ll Love This Report…

Ice held up better than expected down the Dry Arm, and the fishing followed suit. Don Wilkins offers a quick update on conditions, access, and a strong walleye and pike bite.

We fished down the Dry Arm again this weekend and were kind of surprised to find that, despite the warm weather, the ice had actually held up pretty well in the area we had been fishing. However, trying to walk across, we found that the ice farther out had gotten worse and was mostly some frozen slush with a small layer of black ice under it.

Fishing was very good, with a good amount of walleye and pike caught in just a few hours of chasing flags using mostly fathead and suck minnows.

The biggest issue right now is access, and be prepared for walk-on only fishing. I would not advise traveling on the McGuire Creek road with a full-size vehicle, and after our near-blizzard conditions on Wednesday, there’s a good chance the road could be drifted shut. We’re going to try to get down there to check it out on Friday morning.
