The Bull Elk That Rewrote Hunting History

This Elk Nearly Broke TWO World Records at Once!!

Back in February of this year, we posted an article about this bull, stating that it could be a world record. It just needed to be scored. Well, straight from the Pope and Young website (yeah, they dropped it back in October, but it’s too insane not to talk about now), comes the kind of news that makes every elk hunter sit up straight: Casey Brooks tagged an elk so freakishly massive it is now officially the new P&Y World Record. After a first-ever joint scoring panel with both Pope & Young and Boone & Crockett, this Washington mega-bull officially taped out at a ridiculous 478 2/8”—nearly 29 inches bigger than the old record and basically breathing on the all-time B&C mark. And the best part is that Casey spent two full years chasing this beast before finally putting the perfect arrow into him on New Year’s Eve of 2024. Talk about commitment. P&Y folks are calling the bull’s mass and character something truly special, and honestly, that feels like an understatement. For more information on Pope and Young and to read the original release from October, you can check out the Pope and Young site here.
