Idaho Father and Son Killed in Rare Hornet Attack on Vacation

Their zipline trip for an Idaho man and his teenage son promised an unforgettable adventure—and it was, just in a tragic way.

Sometimes vacations throw you a curveball—a flat tire, lost luggage, maybe a little food poisoning if you’re unlucky—but for an Idaho dad and his teenage son ziplining in Laos, things went tragically off-script earlier this month. According to an article in The Times, Daniel and Cooper Owen were gliding through the jungle canopy when a swarm of giant hornets turned their tropical adventure into a nightmare no one could have imagined. The two, beloved in their international school community, didn’t make it home—an unthinkable reminder that even the best-laid travel plans can take a turn you’ll never see coming.

Stay safe out there, folks…no matter where you are or what you’re doing.
