Yellowstone River Fishing Report
CFS: 1740
Carters Bridge 10/12/2025 8 AM water clarity is green with visibility of about 2 feet.
Yesterday was super windy, today its calm for now (6:30AM on Monday), but the wind is supposed to pick up (west wind 22 – 30 mph with gusts up to 41) later this afternoon. Welcome to fall fishing!
The leaves are just past prime and there is a nice dusting of snow making the Yellowstone scenery as stunning as ever! Even if you don’t catch the big brown there have been a lot of plump 15-18″ rainbows on the prowl…
Fall baetis, pseudos, and a creme colored baetis have been emerging, particularly on cloudy rainy days. Keep an eye out for fish rising in the foam eddies and slower, even moving tailouts.
The streamer game in general has been slower than we’d like, but people are catching some nice browns occasionally. Although temps are cold (especially in the morning) you’ll have a warmer streamer window in the afternoon, especially if the clouds hang around.
