Who Owns a Stand on Public Land?

You can….but would you?

MeatEater threw out an interesting question: would you hunt out of someone else’s stand on public land? Technically, it is fair game—public land belongs to everyone—but some believe it is like crossing an invisible line of hunting etiquette. The land the stand is on is not technically “owned,” but someone clearly put in the time and effort to set it up there. While some say they wouldn’t touch anybody else’s set-up–even on public land, other people say they have hunted in stands they had seen, and they have even shot deer from said stand(s).

Would YOU hunt in a stand on public land that you found?
