Heads up, campers! According to a recent press release, black bear sightings are on the rise near campsites on the Ashland Ranger District of the Custer Gallatin National Forest, and with fall here, bears are in full “eat-all-the-food” mode before hibernation. Keep your campsite clean, stash your food, coolers, and even scented items like toothpaste or pet treats in bear-proof containers or vehicles, and never feed or approach a bear—they’re curious, unpredictable, and bigger than you think.
