Tennessee just became the first state to require gun safety training in schools, teaching kids—from kindergarten through high school—how to handle firearms responsibly. The goal is to prevent tragedies like unintentional shootings while also showing that guns in responsible hands can protect and even save lives. Age-appropriate lessons cover everything from recognizing real firearms and avoiding them for younger kids to safe storage and responsibility for older students, giving families and communities the framework for safety.
Recent tragedies, like the shocking and tragic murder of Charlie Kirk during a public event, make this conversation even more urgent.
