The Milk River Project Update: St. Mary Canal Shutoff Alert

St. Mary Canal flows shut off this Friday (8/22) as crews shift full speed to the Halls Coulee Siphon replacement…

The following update is by The Milk River Project:

Welp, all good things must come to an end. The St. Mary Canal will be shut off this Friday (8/22) for the season so crews can move full speed ahead on the Halls Coulee Siphon replacement project.

This means all supplemental flows between Babb and Fresno, MT will stop, and the Milk River will run on natural flow only for the rest of the year.

We know it’s not the update anyone wants, but it’s necessary for crew safety and to keep construction moving before winter. Thank you to our landowners and communities along the canal for your patience as we push forward with these critical upgrades. Every step brings us closer to a stronger, more reliable system.
