The Paradise Valley Spring Creeks have been challenging but rewarding fishing. This time of year having perfect gear and technique pays big dividends. We recommend a 3 or 4 rod and reel, with a 12 foot 6 or even 7X tippet. In you are unfamiliar with the best approach of each hole or riffle, hiring a guide is a great way to learn the creeks quickly. Although the bugs and hatches vary, the stealthy approach remains the same.
PMD’s have been coming off in the morning, with sulfurs in the afternoon. On days when the hatches are slower try terrestrials. In the morning try midge larva, scuds, sowbugs, sulfur nymphs, PMD crack back nymphs, thin sawyer style PT’s or other small mayfly nymph patterns.

Tippet: TroutHunter 6X, 6.5X – (fluorocarbon or nylon), Scientific Angler’s 6X, 6.5X – (fluorocarbon or nylon), Airflo 6X, 6.5X nylon, Rio Fluoroflex 6X, 6.5X. 7X or smaller is possible, but only with the right rod and operator, otherwise plan on loosing some flies when the fish go for the weeds…
