Canyon Ferry: Walleyes are being caught between Confederate and Goose Bay, around White Earth, and Hellgate, both inside and outside of the bay. Try trolling bottom bouncers with a worm harness or slow death rigs in 20 to 30 feet of water with chartreuse, purple or white being the preferred colors. Rapalas and jigs are working as well. A few perch are being caught by anglers using walleye rigs in these same areas. Rainbows are being caught on walleye gear, lures or cowbells in the traditional walleye spots as well as the north end of the reservoir around Cemetary Island, Hellgate, and between Silos to Hole in the Wall. An occasional smallmouth bass is showing up around Cemetary Island. Hellgate, Duck Creek and Beaver Creek Bay near White Earth have provided some action for walleye and rainbows from shore on jigs and worms. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena
Hauser: Walleyes are being caught from the Causeway Bridge, below Canyon Ferry Dam, and around the dredge piles near Eldorado Bar wile using various jigs with crawlers or trolling bottom bouncers with chartreuse spinners. A few perch are being picked up while searching for walleye. Rainbow fishing has been good out from Riverside Campground, York Bridge and the Black Sandy area while using plain crawlers, spoons, and while trolling dark colored crankbaits or cowbells with wedding ring spinners. Holter: Walleye and perch fishing has been productive while either trolling bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses or jigging with crawlers or leeches in 8 to 18 feet of water around weed beds and points throughout the reservoir. Rainbow fishing has been good while using plain crawlers or casting spoons around the BLM boat ramp area, and while trolling flashers or crankbaits with lead core line. A few nice kokanee are being found near the Dam while trolling dodgers with hoochies and shoepeg corn between 65 and 85 feet of water. The best Kokanee bite has been very early in the morning.
