Black Bear Wandering in Billings

There’s a curious young black bear roaming Billings’ South Side…..

FWP has received numerous reports of a young black bear wandering the South Side of Billings. The bear has not shown human-habituated or aggressive behavior at this time. If you live in the area, please be sure any potential bear attractants on your property are secured and stored properly. We do not want this bear to access garbage or other attractants, as that will encourage the bear to spend more time in town. Do not approach the bear.

If you see the bear acting aggressive, approaching people, or getting into attractants, please report it to FWP by calling 406-247-2940 or emailing dmchugh@mt.gov.
