Montana man’s body found after multi-day search on Lochsa River

A Montana man’s body was found on Saturday, two miles from where he was last seen in the area of the Lochsa River.

A Montana man’s body was found on Saturday, two miles from where he was last seen in the area of the Lochsa River. Robert Jeffrey Howe was reported missing on Wednesday.

On May 31, 2025, at approximately 2:10 PM, the search for missing person Robert Jeffrey Howe concluded.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for Mr. Howe since Wednesday. The Idaho County drone located Mr. Howe’s body in the river approximately two miles from where he was last seen at the Wilderness Gateway Campground.

We wish to thank the Nez Perce County Dive Team, Two Bear Air, the Idaho County Posse K9 team, the US Forest Service Fire Staff and River Rangers, and the multiple family members, volunteers, and friends of Mr. Howe who tirelessly worked to help locate him.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family as they navigate this difficult time.
