The gates on the Montana side will open, weather permitting, at 8 a.m. MDT, the National Park Service, and WYDOT coordinate closely in keeping the road open throughout the summer. Unpredictable weather conditions at these high elevations do cause temporary closures, so you should ALWAYS check the MDT 511 map/app before traveling for the most current information on our side: 511mt.net
