Don Wilkins’ Fort Peck Fishing Report 3.14.25

Ice fishing on Peck is wrapping up, open water is still weeks away, so now’s the perfect time to prep your gear and get a jump on next season!

The ice on Peck is pretty much unsafe for even walk on fishing now,, and looking at the forecast we may have a few weeks yet before we see any real open water. Our best guess is the first week of April, but some wind/rain could speed that up a bit.

Now is a good time to go through all your ice fishing gear and save yourself a bunch of rigging time for next winter, We like to replace all our tip up leaders, Swivels and hook ,and replace all the leaders on our jigging rods as well. It is also a good idea to set up any pop ice houses you may have used to ensure they are thoroughly dried out before storage. We also unhook any of the batteries on our electronics that won’t be used over the summer.
