Chasing Ice: For Some, the Season’s Over

Some anglers are stuck dreaming of frozen lakes, while others are packing their gear and chasing the last ice—where do you stand?

While many ice anglers are left reminiscing about frozen lakes and the thrill of a good catch, others are still chasing the last remnants of hard water—willing to travel for that final taste of the season. But as the Fishing Montana crew found out, sometimes pushing your luck comes with consequences.

“We pushed our luck this year, and it finally ran out—for the first time since I started ice fishing 10 years ago!”

This video is a compilation of their last three outings, a season that ended fast as warm weather took over. And in the process, they learned the hard way what happens when the ice gives out beneath you.

Regardless if you’re a long-time pro or just getting into the sport, the itch to drill one more hole never really goes away. But if you’re counting down the days until next season, this one will hit you right in the feels—because nothing beats the cold air, the sound of ice cracking beneath your boots, and the anticipation of what’s lurking below!
