Captain’s Weekly Ice and Fishing Report on Nelson Reservoir 1.16.25

Solid ice, a hot perch bite, and walleye keeping us on our toes—find out what worked (and where) on Nelson Reservoir for the Captain and Don Jamison…

The Captain and Don Jamison from Park Grove went fishing Nelson Reservoir and found there was very good ice 18-20 inches, with the exception of some gas pockets–so be careful.

The perch bite was good, and the walleye bite was inconsistent.

They fished in 37-41 feet of water, jigging in Don’s Black Hole. Buckshot rattling jigs worked, along with a small jig n rap tipped with a piece of minnow.

They also had a dead rod with a live minnow that seemed to attract fish and keep them in the area.

Good luck out there!
