Move over, fancy hors d’oeuvres—Kokanee Quinn found these Deer Sausage Cranberry Cream Cheese Bites via Wild Game and Fish that are here to save your holiday sanity! After all of the holiday festivities leading up to Christmas, who has the energy for elaborate cooking? This is a sweet-and-savory snack superstar. Just four ingredients—homemade deer sausage, crescent roll dough, cream cheese and cranberry sauce—and you have the ultimate crowd-pleaser that’s as effortless as it is delicious. Perfect for nibbling AND gobbling!

Here’s how to make them:

Ingredients

  • 1 8-ounce tube crescent rolls
  • 3 ounces breakfast deer sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • ⅓ cup whole berry cranberry sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 F.
  • Unroll the crescent rolls onto a large cutting board and gently press the seams together.
  • Cut the dough into 24 squares. Place each square into a cup of a mini muffin tin.
  • Place 1 teaspoon of the cooked and crumbled venison sausage in each of the dough-filled muffin tin cups.
  • Cut the cream cheese into 24 small pieces. Place a piece of the cream cheese on top of the sausage. Then top each with about a teaspoon of cranberry sauce.
  • Bake for 10 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese and cranberry sauce are bubbly.
  • Immediately remove the bites from the muffin tin. Serve warm.
