Fishing report for Fresno and Nelson reservoirs 3.9.23

Walleye fishing on Fresno is good. There’s still lots of ice. My best fishing is on the main lake points in 10’ to 12’ of water. My tip up fishing is very slow but jig fishing especially jig raps is good. Walleye fishing on Nelson is good. Still lots of ice. Like Fresno tip ups…

Like Fresno tip ups with live minnows has been slow for me, but jig fishing especially jig raps had been good. Points and gravel flats have been producing. Best times have been from 5am-8am and 5pm-7pm on both reservoirs. If you haven’t tried a 3” blaze orange/gold jig rap you’re missing out. They think it’s a crawfish and they’ve been crushing it. A good lake map like I’ve got in my portable Helix 5 and a sonar like my Markum are very helpful.
