Four Wounded Warriors were invited to Catlin Ranch in White Sulpher Springs on February 13th and 14th for a shoulder season elk hunt. The hunt was coordinated by Terry Taylor of White Sulpher Springs, a long-time assistant to Ben Galt who owns the ranch.

The four Wounded Warriors (pictured above from the back left to right) are Colleen Hudspeth, Ashley Granot, Christine Baker, and (in the front) Tina Waggener and Marco Wood, the Warrior coordinator.

All the women are Army, and Marco is Navy.  The four Wounded Warriors also live in Montana.

Lon Hanson was recruited by Taylor to Outfit the hunt, and he was helped by two of his guides Heith and Will. The three live around White Sulpher Springs, so they know the ranch well and were eager to hunt with the Warriors. The guides volunteered their time.

Ben also made sure that the women were treated great with breakfast and dinner at local diners in White Sulpher Springs.

Day one included a lot of walking and a lot of elk but no success. On the second day, the weather turned cold, snowy and windy which made for tougher hunting conditions. The Warriors made the best of it with Tina shooting her first elk.

I think Marco Wood the Warrior coordinator recapped the two-day hunt the best:

“Not Sure that words can express my gratitude for what you have given to our awesome women warriors who have given so much!”

Ben Galt said, “We will do this every year to honor the Wounded Warriors.”
