The National Weather Service has issued a blowing dust advisory for northeastern Montana until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14. A high wind warning is in effect until midnight.
Residents are urged to avoid travel if possible.
Times-Leader just reported that Northeastern Montana is currently acting like a giant sandblaster, so you might want to rethink those travel plans–and that includes to your favorite fishing spot. Between the blowing dust advisory and a high wind warning that’s sticking around until midnight, visibility in Valley County has basically hit zero—especially if you’re headed east toward Nashua or Frazer.
The Glasgow Police have already seen a few accidents and said the following:
Please avoid leaving Glasgow heading east toward Nashua until the winds die down. Visibility is very poor and its reported that there is no visibility heading from Nashua to Fraser. There has already been one accident reported in that area.
So, unless you have a death wish or a vehicle that runs on dust, just stay put and let the gale-force drama blow over. Grab a snack, stay off the roads, and stay safe out there.
