Don Wilkins managed to squeeze in another productive outing before warmer weather threatens to shut things down. A brief cold snap tightened the ice just enough on Rock Creek to get back out and chase lake trout, and the effort paid off with several fish coming through the hole.

We snuck out and pulled a few more fish through the ice in Rock Creek. A small cold snap froze things up enough for us to get out and pick up a few lakers. The fish we caught were in 65-80 feet, caught on jigs and plastics. The biggest fish we caught were cruising between 10 and 30 feet below the ice.
There’s a pretty big warm front coming this weekend that could potentially put an end to any safe ice on Peck. If you are going out, please make sure you have a spud bar, ice picks, and a throw bag, and be very careful. The ice that’s left out there isn’t as strong as it was a month ago.
