Montana’s wolf season is still rolling along, according to FWP, with 229 wolves harvested statewide so far toward a 452-wolf quota (excluding WMUs 313 and 316). Region 1 leads the pack with 96, followed by Region 2 with 73 and Region 3 with 49, while Regions 6 and 7 are still at zero. Good news for trappers and hunters: there have been zero non-target captures of grizzly bears or lynx.

Region 3 remains open with 49 of its 60-wolf quota filled, WMU 316 is still open (1 of 3), while WMU 313 has officially closed after hitting its 3-wolf limit. With the general season running through March 15 (and trapping wrapping up the same day), there’s still time on the clock — but the numbers are steadily climbing.
