Dillon, MT Beaverhead River Fishing Report 2.9.26

Recent fishing conditions on the Beaverhead have been challenging due to low flows and clear water. Success requires stealth and patience, with anglers advised to use longer leaders and fish deeper with specific nymphs.

We’ve been spoiled with plenty of fishable winter days lately, and the Beaverhead has offered up some solid opportunities if you time it right, according to Backcountry Angler. The open stretch between Pipe Organ and Barretts has been a bit hit and miss, especially on those bright, bluebird days. With flows low and the water running clear, fish are on high alert and spooking easily—sunny conditions can be deceiving this time of year. Stealth, longer leaders, and careful wading are key to finding success.

Peeking into many of the deeper holes, it looks like a good number of fish pushed upriver during the fall spawn and have stayed put. On the milder days, anglers are finding action with scuds, midges, and baetis nymphs fished deep and slow. Focus on softer winter holding water and be patient with your drifts. The Beaverhead is still producing—it just requires a little more finesse this time of year.
