MT’s Lake Sutherlin & Newlan Reservoir Ice Reports 1.29.26

Ice conditions at Lake Sutherlin and Newlan Reservoir remain good with 10 to 12 inches of ice, ensuring safe fishing. Stay cautious and enjoy the day on the ice!

According to what people are saying in social media ice fishing groups as of today, January 29, ice conditions at Lake Sutherlin and Newlan Reservoir just outside of White Sulphur Springs are still in good shape. Reports indicate there was around 12 inches of ice on Sunday, and recent cool temperatures have helped maintain that thickness, or roughly 10 inches in spots. Newlan hasn’t lost any ice. While there hasn’t been a firsthand report from Sutherlin since the first weekend of January, most believe it’s still locked up and safe based on current conditions.

Good luck to everyone heading out on the ice, and stay safe out there. Hopefully the fish are biting, and you have a great day on the hard water!
