Midges and small nymphs are the main ticket, with the best action coming during the short mid-day warmup. Streamers can still move a few big fish, but patience is key.

Fort Peck and Canyon Ferry are starting to see solid ice forming in bays and sheltered areas, while open water remains on the main bodies. Early ice anglers are finding perch and walleye in the shallows, but safety comes first — check every few feet as thickness varies widely.
