Tips sought on two elk poached near Georgetown Lake

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks game wardens are seeking information on a cow and spike elk that were shot and left to waste on private property between Georgetown Lake and the East Fork Reservoir, south of Philipsburg.

Philipsburg – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks game wardens are seeking information on a cow and spike elk that were shot and left to waste on private property between Georgetown Lake and the East Fork Reservoir, south of Philipsburg.

The elk are believed to have been killed on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 29. Each elk died very close to where it was shot, and boot prints indicate that the likely suspect walked within a few yards of one of the elk.

FWP game wardens say that wildlife crimes like this one are often solved because of leads from the public and encourage anyone with information to make a report. If you have potential tips on this case, contact game warden Ezra Ginzberg at 406-240-0835.

You can also visit tipmont.mt.gov for more information on reporting natural resource crimes and who to contact in your local area. You may be eligible for a reward.
