MT Winter Lockdown? Not for Anglers…Check Out What Is Still Open at YNP

The real fishing action this winter is happening where you least expect it…

Yellowstone National Park Fishing Report by Yellow Dog Flyfishing for November 19, 2025:

The Majority of the park is now closed for Winter.

What will remain open year round? The Gardner River from Osprey Falls downstream to the confluence with the Yellowstone River near the North Entrance in Gardiner, Montana.

The Madison River from the Wyoming/Montana state line downstream to the park boundary near the West Entrance in West Yellowstone, Montana.

The Madison and Garner have fished well with BWO’s, swung soft hackles and small streamers. If nothing else seems to be working a BWO nymph, Perdigon or stonefly nymph should keep an angler busy.
