Gallatin River Fishing Report 10.22.25

Fishing on the Gallatin is heating up this fall, with clear water, cool temps, and strong action on nymphs and streamers..

The following report is by Yellow Dog Flyfishing:

Flow Data: Gallatin River near Gallatin Gateway, MT

Since the Gallatin cleared fishing has picked up significantly. No need to get out super early with the cool Fall weather. Overall the surface action is likely going to be a bit slow until the fall beatis really start hatching in numbers. There have been a few here and there so the action will hopefully pick up soon. A double nymph rig has been good to great. Small rubberlegs, midges, and mayfly nymphs have been the best. Streamers have been good on cloudy days. A bit slower when the sun is high. If you do try a streamer, small and natural seems to work best. Make the most of the good weather as we get deeper into fall.
