Gallatin River Fishing Report 9.5.25

With the Gallatin clear and active, foamy terrestrials, caddis, and well-placed droppers are putting fish on the line as summer winds down…

The following report is by Yellow Dog Flyfishing:

Flow Data: Gallatin River near Gallatin Gateway, MT

The Gallatin has cleared and is fishing really well once again. Terrestrials or attractor dry flies will still be the best bet on the surface. Still some caddis flying around, particularly in the evenings. Spruce moths in the canyon. Fish are eating both of these insects pretty readily. Fishing a large foamy terrestrial dry with a perdigon or caddis pupa dropper remains a great way to catch fish on the Gallatin. Streamers may make a comeback this week with the change in weather. If you do try a streamer, small and natural seems to work best. Make the most of the good weather as summer starts to wind down.
