Full Curl Wildlife Management Area reopens Sept. 4

The Knowles Fire has cooled enough for Full Curl WMA to reopen, but hazard trees and loose rocks still lurk…

KALISPELL — Full Curl Wildlife Management Area near Paradise in Sanders County is reopening, effective Sept. 4.

The WMA was closed Aug. 18 due to the Knowles Fire, which remains active in the area and has burned more than 3,800 acres, including parts of the WMA.

Recreationists on Full Curl should avoid recently burned areas due to loose rocks and hazard trees.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks would like to extend its gratitude and appreciation for the hard work and fire suppression efforts of Knowles Fire Incident Commander Ken Parks and the Western Montana All-Hazards Incident Management Team, including all personnel involved in suppression efforts.
