Salmon Slayer is Slaying on Fort Peck

Salmon are biting and walleye teams are pre-fishing—lake action is heating up just in time for the Governor’s Cup!

Bill “The Salmon Slayer” Zahradka of Wolf Point hit the lake with his buddies Bruce Balerud and Mert Kirschbaum from Williston on Monday and reeled in five nice salmon. With the Walleye Governor’s Cup Tournament kicking off this Friday and Saturday, the lake is buzzing—anglers are out in force pre-fishing for walleye, but the salmon bite is still going strong. Right now, 8-inch flashers paired with flies seem to be the winning combo for those chasing silver.
