Dawson County Fire Fast, Unpredictable

In case you haven’t heard…

A wind-blown wildfire sparked at Makoshika State Park in Dawson County today. The cause and size of the fire is unknown at this time, but it is moving fast and is unpredictable. The park will have a partial closure for the time being, with visitors having access only to the visitors center near the entrance. All roads, trails, campgrounds, day use areas and all other facilities are currently closed. This may become a full closure if conditions change. Due to the erratic nature of the fire, visitation is discouraged at this time.
