Fresno Walleye Tourney Canceled

Low water canceled the Fresno Walleye tourney, but silver lining: a long-awaited boat ramp upgrade is finally launching next week.

Because of low water the Fresno Walleye tournament has been cancelled June 20-21, according to Tammy Pyrah.

The Milk River Project shared a couple photos of the main boat ramp which is out of the water.

Water levels at Fresno Reservoir near Havre, MT, are getting very low, and outflows are ramping down to 100 cfs by Thursday as the irrigation season ends early for Milk River Project users due to the St. Mary Siphon failure and limited storage from this year’s low precipitation and runoff.

There’s a silver lining for anglers, though—lower water levels mean perfect timing for long-planned improvements. The Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited has received full approval from Reclamation to move forward with extending the main boat ramp, with construction set to kick off next Monday.

Heads up: The main boat ramp will be periodically closed during construction for safety. For updates and closure notices, follow the Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited on Facebook.
