Don Wilkins’ Weekly Fort Peck Fishing Report 6.5.25

The bite’s been hot—walleye in the 50s, smallmouth stacking up deep, pike slowing down, and surprise salmon showing up all over the system…

Walleye-good bite with jigs and plastics/minnows in 12-18 feet, where we found water that was in the upper 50’s and higher. Some days slowly dragging a minnow on a plain treble under the boat with a 1/2 ounce of weight was the deal.

Smallmouth-slip bobbers and minnows, shallow running crankbaits, and jigs and plastics are all working well. Finding some good sized fish out as far as 20 feet working rocky shorelines.

Pike-Northern bite has backed off a little, especially for bigger fish. Still catching a few on spoons in the shallows, but the better fish may be moving deeper now.

Salmon-Not really a report for them, but an observation that there have been quite a few caught this spring already. From Hell Creek, the Pines, Duck Creek, the dam area, and a little ways down the Dry Arm seem to be a lot of fish in the system this year.
