Don Wilkins’ Weekly Fort Peck Fishing Report 5.1.25

From deep water surprises to shoreline hotspots, this week brought a little bit of everything at Fort Peck.

Walleye: Fishing has been good this past week. Starting to find quite a few post-spawn females now and some fish out deeper, 20-25 feet in places. VMC 1/4 ounce moon eye jigs, Walleye Hunter Tackle big eye and swimbait jigs with 3.3-3.8 inch swimbaits have been working and the minnow bite was good this past weekend also.

Smallmouth: We started to see good numbers of fish in around rock piles in the dam and down the dry arm, Pitching plastics up shallow and slip bobbers with fathead minnows out on the deeper edges of the piles were both effective.

Laker Trout: We found some decent laker action cruising some ledges from 60-90 feet. Fish are scattered out still, so if you’re looking to jig for them, you’ll have to cover a little bit of ground to keep busy.
