Slayer Slays First Salmon of 2025 Season on Peck Thursday

A day of trolling for lake trout on Fort Peck turned into an unexpected and unforgettable catch for “The Salmon Slayer.”

Bill Zahradka, “The Salmon Slayer” from Wolf Point, and Brian Knox were trolling primarily for lake trout on Fort Peck. They caught a great-looking chinook salmon that weighed 10 pounds.

“Spread out and skiddish, the salmon came on long line spoon behind and below all gear 90 down on the deck,” said Slayer. The salmon limit at Fort Peck is five a day, and lakers are three a day.

They ended up catching over 20 lake trout during the day, and all lakers were released.
