Don Wilkins’ Weekly Fort Peck Fishing Report 4.17.25

Big walleye, hungry eaters, and bonus pike—Lake Peck’s dam area is heating up even if the water temps aren’t!

Walleye fishing on Peck in the dam area has still been good this past week. With some big fish being caught and more eater-sized fish showing up as well, jigs and plastics have still been our go-to to finding fish from 8 feet and out as far as 20 feet.

The smallmouth and northern pike fishing has picked up this past week as well. A good share of those fish were caught on a jig and minnow trailing under the boat within a foot or so of the bottom while we’re covering shoreline casting jigs, fishing the same depths as the walleye.

Water temps didn’t change much with the cool weather and wind we’ve been having. The main lake is near 40 still, and shallower areas are in the low to mid-40s for the most part.
