Livestock with Antlers?

Some livestock have antlers–and not by choice!

Those impressive antlers on deer, elk, and moose aren’t just for show—they can become serious weapons during the rut, when testosterone-fueled aggression peaks. While direct statistics on livestock injuries from antlered ungulates are scarce, it’s well-documented that bucks in rut may spar with and become entangled in various objects, indicating their heightened aggression during this season . Additionally, during the rut, males of species like mule deer often engage in violent battles, showcasing the potential dangers of their antlers . This heightened aggression isn’t limited to their own species; livestock that inadvertently encroach upon these animals during this period could be at risk. So, while those antlers might look majestic from afar, it’s wise to keep a safe distance during the rut to avoid any unintended confrontations
