Man found dead in Lincoln County believed to have gotten stuck in snow, tried to walk out

Even if things are starting to thaw, remember to keep an emergency kit and warming materials in your car.

On March 23, 2025 at approximately 2:59 pm, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office
received a report that the body of a deceased male had been found on the Southside
Road near Star Creek, West of Troy, Montana.
The reporting party said that his son had been driving on the Southside Road when
he found the male, laying I the snow, obviously deceased. Lincoln County
Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives responded to the area and located the deceased
male, later identified as 74-year-old Timothy Wall, of Naples Idaho, approximately
3 miles from the Montana/Idaho border. Members of David Thompson Search and
Rescue responded and transported the Lincoln County Coroner and deputy coroner
to the scene to assist with the investigation.
The initial investigation indicated that Wall had possibly died of hypothermia and
no signs of foul play were found.
On March 24, 2025, Deputies and Detectives from the Boundary County Sheriff’s
Office as well as Deputies and Detectives from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office
were able to locate Walls’ vehicle approximately 2 miles from the state line in
Idaho. It appeared that Wall had gotten stuck in deep snow and attempted to walk
