Brian Olson’s Fresno and Nelson Reservoirs Fishing Reports 3.6.25

Rising water levels and shifting ice caps are changing the game—also, here’s what northern anglers need to know!

Fresno is up to 38%. Inflow is 400cfs & outflow about 40 cfs. Nelson is 72% full. Inflow is 294 cfs & no inflow. All the ice caps are floating on all the Hiline reservoirs as warm temps has created a lot of run off. It will be difficult to reach the ice caps from shore. If you are a northern fisherman, fish the area between shore & the ice cap. The brushy areas can be best. I use bass type spinner baits on at least 50# braid & on a very tight drag. If they rap up in the brush, you normally will need to break off. On the smaller trout reservoirs try 1/8 & lighter jigs with a small black twister. Other baits like spinners & spoons also work.

Be safe & good luck.
