Weekly Fort Peck Fishing Report by Don Wilkins 1.16.25

Discover the latest conditions from Don Wilkins, uncover hot spots and learn crucial safety tips for a successful weekend on the ice!

Ice out of the Nelson Creek area is still good and we found good solid ice almost to the North Point of McGuire Creek that measured 10-11 inches. The south shoreline coming out of Nelson heading north is mostly open so use caution if setting gear along that edge. I can’t say it enough but avoid traveling the ice close to the shoreline on Peck, especially with the up and down temps we’ve had.

Fishing for walleye has still been good fishing tip-ups with fathead and sucker minnows. As we’ve moved a little farther north and finding a little deeper water to fish in,12-15 feet of water seems to be producing the most fish consistently.

We have some pretty cold temps coming over the weekend so be aware that some spots on the shoreline that are open now will get a layer of ice on them that may not be very thick.

Good luck out there and always check your ice.
