Fresno and Nelson Reservoirs Fishing Report by Brian Olson 1.16.25

Ice fishing season is on—Fresno and Nelson reservoirs are iced over, but it’s all about timing, depth, and a little tip-up magic for those walleye bites!

Fresno is 14% full, the reservoir is still on decline but does seem at a slower rate. No inflow & about 40 cfs outflow.

Nelson is 68% full with no in or outflow.

Both reservoirs are ice covered, proceed on the ice at your own risk. Low light periods are the better fishing time especially for walleye. Concentrate your efforts near points & humps. I place my tip ups in 15’ to 25’ of water. The edges of these areas are producing for me, if you have a tip up that goes off more than others, I suggest to concentrate your efforts there. I jig & am very successful.

Good luck.
