Weekly Fort Peck Ice Fishing Report by Don Wilkins 1.2.25

With ice thickening and walleye biting, Nelson Creek is shaping up to be the perfect weekend fishing spot—just grab your tip-ups, minnows, and a little luck!

Ice conditions down the dry arm have improved with the cold weather the last few days. We are finding 7-9 inches of ice in the area around the Nelson Creek boat ramp and the shoreline going towards McGuire Creek has sealed back up and should be in pretty good shape by the weekend with the temps in the forecast.

Still catching mostly eater-sized walleye with an occasional ling, pike and catfish as well. Visited with some other anglers fishing the area this week who also had some success with the same species. Still fishing with tip-ups and minnows.

The water depth for most of the area in and around the ramp is 4-5 feet and only gets a few feet deeper as you work up the shoreline toward McGuire. Good luck, and stay safe out there.
