Tongue River Reservoir Ice Update – 1.2.25

New year, new ice — here’s the scoop from Tongue River Reservoir State Park.

New year, new ice! Tongue River Reservoir is finally shaping up, with 4-5 inches of solid ice on the south end and a few fish making appearances—shoutout to that near-record largemouth bass! But up north, it’s still thin and dicey in spots, so proceed with caution. Here’s the full scoop on the ice and fishing conditions to kick off 2025 from Tongue River Reservoir State Park:

Happy New Year! We have ice and a nice snow cover.

Temperature today was 14 degrees, with a high around 28.

The south end (south of Rattlesnake PT) has 4-5″ and seems more solid.

From Rattlesnake Pt to Campers Point and the north end are anywhere from 1-3″ as per reports. Neck Bay looks thin and some other spots around the lake. We are getting closer to safe ice and I expect it to grow slowly.

Fishing report- nothing at Campers point or Rattlesnake Pt. A few fish at the south end including a near record large mouth bass.

Be safe!
