53rd Annual Sunriser Lions Ice Fishing Derby, Jan 4

Start your family’s new year with a dose of winter fun, good food and community spirit at Smith Lake!

Kick off the new year at the 53rd Annual Sunriser Lions Ice Fishing Derby! Mark your calendars for Saturday, January 4th, from 7 am to 1 pm at Smith Lake near Kila. This isn’t just about catching fish; it’s about family fun, good eats, and supporting a great cause.

For just a few bucks (kids $3, adults $8, families $12), you can join the fun and help support Sunriser Lions kids fishing projects. Think of it as brunch with a side of ice fishing! We’re talking prizes in multiple fish categories (including $100 gift certificates for the biggest pike and perch!), hourly drawings, and a Lions trailer serving up hot drinks, chili, hot dogs, and hamburgers. Oh, and did we mention a warming fire with s’mores? Because no winter outing is complete without s’mores.

So, grab the family, head to the FWP fishing access site at Smith Lake, and get ready for some serious winter fun. It’s the perfect way to start 2025.

Shout out to the tournament’s co-sponsors: Sportsman and Ski Haus, Flathead Wildlife, Inc., and Walleyes Unlimited!
