Nebraska Sets Limits for Mountain Lion Conservation as they Gear Up for Their Biggest Season To Date

Montana might be our main focus, but sometimes we want to know what is happening elsewhere–check out what is happening in Nebraska!

Alright, we know this is MONTANAoutdoor.com, but every now and then, we like to peek over the fence and see what’s happening across the country. So, here’s some news from Nebraska Game and Parks, where mountain lions are making headlines with a record-breaking hunting season.

Nebraska’s mountain lion season is gearing up to be the busiest yet, with hunts starting January 2 across three regions, including the first-ever regulated season in the Wildcat Hills. Each area has set harvest limits to keep the population balanced with its habitat, aiming for a healthy, sustainable future for the species. If the goals aren’t met by February’s end, hunters get a bonus window in March. This could shape up to be the state’s biggest mountain lion harvest to date. Pretty cool.
