BLM seeks comments on Cottonwood / Weatherman Draw Travel Management Plan

(BILLINGS, Mont.) – The BLM Billings Field Office is accepting public comments on an environmental assessment regarding travel management on BLM-managed lands in Carbon County until Jan. 2, 2025. 

The Cottonwood/Weatherman Draw Travel Management Area consists of 76,305 acres of BLM-administered lands with nearly 377 miles of travel routes. The BLM is collecting input on the four alternatives outlined in the EA including the proposed alternative.

Public scoping meetings for this project were held March 30 and April 4, 2022, to gather public input on the initial travel route inventory. The BLM hosted an additional public meeting on Nov. 1, 2023, to obtain public input on potential alternatives.

The EA incorporated public input gathered during these meetings to focus on route designations, maintenance, public information, implementation, enforcement, monitoring, and adaptive management applicable to the Cottonwood/Weatherman Draw Travel Management Area
